Usage Guide

1. Start with a 5-Minute Tolerability Test ⏱️

First Session: Start with just 5 minutes to see how your dog handles the Emu Lumbar. Monitor their chewing behaviour and digestion before increasing session times.
Daily Routine: Offer 15–20-minute supervised chewing sessions over multiple days to keep your dog mentally engaged.

2. Keep Their Mind Busy & Teeth Clean 🧠

Mental Enrichment: The Emu Lumbar's unique ridges, curves and porous structure give your dog plenty to work around, keeping them occupied and helping tire them out mentally.
Dental Benefits: Gnawing on the textured surface can help mechanically scrape away plaque while satisfying your dog's natural urge to chew.

3. Swap & Store 🔄

Remove: Trade the chew for a small treat to end each session positively.
Storage: Place the chew in a zip-lock bag and store in a cool, dry place between sessions. Discard if contaminated or showing signs of spoilage.

Supervise: Always supervise your dog while chewing. Encourage gentle gnawing rather than forceful biting or attempting to swallow the bone.
Discard: Remove any loose pieces and discard the chew once it becomes small enough to swallow.

This was a winner for my foster dogs loved

This was a winner for my foster dogs loved. I had to break it up a bit for him. He spent hours chewing on the emu lumbar. He carted it around with him during his chewing time. All chewing time is done under supervision and he had a ball. Highly recommend. Difficult to break up, but so worth it for smaller dogs. Highly recommend.

Indie loved her first taste of the emu lumbar! She devoured most of it in a few (5-10) minutes but I managed to save some for another day. She also muchly appreciated getting a sneaky third one in the parcel - thank you Lenny! She has his postcard pic on a low shelf to admire his handsome face too. I will note for pup pawrents who haven't tried these yet, that Indie did do a couple of extra poops the next day (better than runny off tummy ones) but likely due to a new protein to get used to. While I had high hopes we may have finally found a chew to defeat Miss Destructor here, it didn't keep her busy long enough but she loved it just the same!

Great chew but didn't last long

This bone isn't just a boring flat stick. It’s super lightweight, naturally porous, and absolutely covered in ridges and groovy little valleys. Every bite gives me something different to work on. Basically… a canine puzzle disguised as a chew!

Now THIS is what I call a serious chew. I can settle in, get my paws around it and really put my chompers to work. 🐾🦷
